Lisa Gomez was appointed by President Biden as the Assistant Secretary of the Employee Benefits Security Administration in the U.S. Department of Labor, serving from October 2022-January 2025. Lisa was recognized for leadership of EBSA in retirement security, implementation of SECURE and SECURE 2.0, the No Surprises Act, mental health parity, worker ownership and other projects and priorities. Lisa is a frequent speaker, often sought by the press as a thought leader in retirement and health topics. She founded LMG Collaborative Consulting Solutions and provides comprehensive public policy and other consulting services in all aspects of employee benefits, including compliance, administration, advocacy, communications, government agency engagement, and strategic planning for employers, plan administrators, labor organizations, service providers, and worker advocates. Previously, Lisa was a partner with the law firm Cohen, Weiss and Simon LLP. She has deep technical and practical experience, with almost 30 years representing various Taft-Hartley and multiemployer plans, single employer plans, a federal employees health benefit plan, supplemental plans and VEBAs covering a wide array of industries. She graduated from the Fordham University School of Law and Hofstra University.
