Susan Bird is the elected Chair of the World Pension Alliance, a global organization covering Europe, the UK, Canada, the US and South America that represents the interests of over 400 million pension plan participants and USD $10 trillion in assets. 

Susan is a director of MEBCO – the Multi-Employer Benefit Plan Council of Canada – the national organization that lobbies and educates governments and regulators on issues impacting health and pension plans. MEBCO represents approximately 1 million multi-employer pension and benefit plan participants and their governing board of trustees. 

She is the president of The McAteer Group of Companies. She is responsible for providing advanced governance, administration oversight and consulting services on a national basis to Canadian trustees governing multi-employer life and health and pension trust funds. She graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in economics.

Susan has been involved in the development of governance, funding and finance education programs designed for multi-employer trustees including the CAPSA guidelines for good governance, capital accumulation plans (DC plans) and risk management. Susan is the vice chair of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FRSA) Committee for multi-employer pension plans.

Susan received the ICD.D designation from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management Institute of Corporate Directors and is a chartered director. She is a member of the faculty of the Osgoode Law School professional development program, instructing on governance of multi-employer pension plans.
